Do you have a reflective sign on your mailbox to assist first responders find your home?

You, too, can have a maize and blue reflective sign.

Did you know that the Chelsea Firefighter’s Fund sells customized reflective address signs for your mailbox?

These are highly reflective, and signs that firefighters, or other emergency personnel can see, day or night, which could help save a life.

Plus, the Chelsea Area Firefighters offers them not just in green in white, but also in blue with maize, er, yellow numbers, too.

In fact, you could have a green sign with yellow numbers – for those split loyalty households or even a blue sign with white numbers.

The signs are $20 and the firefighters will add the numbers for you. You can order either a horizontal or vertical sign, which are available in green or blue, then you have a choice of number color – either white or yellow.

You can stop by the fire station between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to order your sign or email [email protected] and include your name, address, phone number and whether you’d like the sign to be vertical or horizontal. The firefighters will put it together and call when it’s ready.

You can also call the fire station at 475-8755 as well.

Typically, the signs are made by firefighters in one day.

(Publisher’s note: I believe I am the first person on Bush Road to have a maize-and-blue sign, replacing the green-and-white one, which was the only color available when I first got one.)
