Saturday, Dec. 1 is filled with activities during the second day of the 25th annual Hometown Holiday. So, here’s a list of all the events to help you plan your day ahead of time.
Free Breakfast with Santa
8:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Comfort Inn & Village Conference Center, a free breakfast with Santa. The conference center is located on Commerce Park Drive off M-52. Kids can sit with Santa and enjoy a free pancake breakfast with other goodies. Sponsored by Lake Trust Credit Union.
Children’s Christmas Bazaar
10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Chelsea First United Methodist Church on Park Street. For pre-K to 5th graders, kids can shop for the holidays and pick from hundreds of affordable handmade and locally made items, all under $5. This event is by appointment only. Register at www.signupgenius.com/go/201268
Gingerbread House Workshop (2 sessions)
11 a.m.-noon and noon-1 p.m. at Chelsea First United Methodist Church on Park Street. Decorate your own gingerbread house for the holidays for free. There are only 100 houses available so reserve one by calling the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce at 475-1145. Sponsored by Lake Trust Credit Union.
Purple Rose Theatre Concert Reading
10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Chelsea District Library McKune Room. Purple Rose actors will be reading Scrooge Macbeth or A Shakespearean Christmas, a new comedy by David MacGregor. Attendees are invited to stay after the performance to share your thoughts on the script.
Holiday Tween & Teen Homemade Gifts
2 – 3:30 p.m. at Chelsea District Library McKune Room. Registration is required for children ages 10-15 years for this free event. Make your own holiday presents and then wrap them to keep them a surprise. All supplies provided.
All The Trimmings Artisan’s Holiday Show
10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Chelsea Community Fairgrounds service building, corner of Old US-12 at Old Manchester Road. An artisans’ show featuring unique local talent. Expected are woodcarvings, bears, counted cross-stitch, pastels, tiles, folk paintings, textiles, jewelry, antiques and collectibles, rug hooking, punch needle, stained glass, photography, bread boards and fresh Christmas greens. Free refreshments, admission and parking.
Chelsea Light Parade
6 p.m. along Main Street. The 8th annual parade featured dozens of lighted floats and vehicles, marching bands, and Santa. The parade starts at Chelsea State Bank south-end lot and ends at Chelsea Teddy Bear Company for the free community afterglow party.
Community Sing
7-9 p.m. at Chelsea Teddy Bear Company, Main Street in the Clocktower complex
Warm up after watching the light parade, enjoy free refreshments and sing holiday carols with the group Counterpoint. Sponsored by the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company & Chelsea Comfort Inn.
Bear Cub Run
7:30 p.m. at Chelsea Teddy Bear Company, Main Street in the Clocktower complex. Now an annual event, several local children run through the Chelsea Teddy Bear warehouse and grab as many bears as they can carry, then many of them are donated to local hospitals or organizations. Sponsored by Chelsea Teddy Bear Company.
