Jan. 26: Rotary to hear from fellow Rotarian Kathy Hay

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Lori Coryell and Dick Dice for the information in this story.)

We can think of nobody who embodies the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” more than our fellow Rotarian Kathy Hay.

Her career path exemplifies a wholehearted dedication to service and the responsibility for and care of others.

Kathy served in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. Utilizing her training there, she joined the Ann Arbor Police Department as a Communications Operator and then as a Police Officer where she worked on the road patrol unit. Currently, she is a sales associate with Reinhart Realtors here in Chelsea – working to help families find a home.

A commitment to service infuses Kathy’s volunteer work, too. She serves as the founder and Committee Chair of the Rotary Highway Cleanup Project and leads the sales and delivery of our Rotary/Motown Soup efforts.

She has selflessly given her time, energy, and indomitable spirit to recognizing, honoring, and assisting our veterans. Of the projects she has engaged in on their behalf, she is most passionate about her work securing funding to build Fisher House Michigan (FHM) on the grounds of the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor – in fact, she is Director Emeritus of FHM.

As a real estate professional, Kathy knows the value and importance of home. FHM will create a home away from home for military families who stay there at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment at the hospital.

The Rotary Club of Chelsea is very pleased and proud to announce that Kathy will be the guest speaker at our Tuesday, Jan. 26 meeting at noon. At that time, she will share background on Fisher House Michigan and the status of efforts to secure the funding to complete it.

Contact Lori Coryell at [email protected] for the Zoom invite or more information.
