July 28: Follow the Delicious Smell of Grilled Chicken

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Arly Spink for the information in this story.)

Folks at the First Congregational Church of Chelsea, UCC are preparing for their annual Chicken Barbecue for the Friday night, July 28 during Chelsea’s Sounds & Sights Summer Festival.

The festival is a two-day event and while the Classic Car Show is taking place on Friday, we will host our barbecue from 4-8 p.m. in the alley right off East Middle Street, next to and behind the church.

So come early, get your dinner, relax at our outdoor tables, and then take in the cars or the merchants’ values on Main Street.

The chicken dinner will also include baked beans, coleslaw or applesauce, water or lemonade, and a Jiffy brownie which comes with a Culver’s guest card for a free scoop of Culver’s custard. Price: $12.  Hot dogs are available for $2.

All proceeds support the church’s missions and outreach efforts, locally in the community and around the region.  Join us for a great dinner with friends you know and those you haven’t seen since the last street event.  It is all very festive—celebrate summer.

First Congregational Church (UCC) is the brick church just east down the block from Zou Zou’s, at 121 E. Middle.  Our building dates from 1894 and you are welcome to visit inside any Sunday morning at 10 AM.  Look for the colorful welcoming banner on the building, and the tall Barbecue flag in the yard next Friday.
