Letter to the editor: vote yes on school bond Nov. 5

Dear Editor:

This letter is meant to be a simple reminder to ‘Say Yes to Chelsea’ next week when you enter the voting booth on November 5th.

Specifically, I’m asking everyone to vote yes on the Chelsea School District bond initiative. This is an incredibly important initiative for many reasons; the least of which is continued funding for care and modernization of our education facilities.

The most important reason, however, is funding for the transformation in how our kids will learn fundamental STEM, communication, and teamwork skills. These skills will help ensure our children’s success in life and will also solidify our competitiveness as a nation.

Dr. Helber, the Chelsea Board of Education, and our teachers have formulated a plan to focus future education efforts around worldwide student competitions such as the First Robotic Challenge, and as a Chelsea robotics mentor for the past four years, I can personally vouch for the incredible growth I have witnessed in many participating students.

By investing in facilities where these students can learn, interact, and create we will certainly foster the growth of very capable young adults. Furthermore, as the president of a local business where I’m in dire need of employees that have strong cross-disciplinary capabilities and are excellent communicators, I urge you to vote yes.

Please note that this bond initiative is NOT an incremental bond or an increase in taxes. It only maintains current funding levels, and it is vitally important for our community.

Regards,
