(The Longworth Family held a memorial service on Dec. 10 for David Longworth who passed away on Nov. 22, 2016.)
On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank the members of the VFW who came to my father’s memorial service to honor him for his service in the Navy. Presenting my mother with a flag, a 21-gun salute, and playing Taps was amazing.
You showed up in the cold, (not dressed anywhere near warm enough) and after honoring my Dad, you quietly packed up and left before I could thank you all. More than words can say, I appreciated you so much.
A huge thank you as well to all of you representing the Chelsea Fire Department. You not only showed up (many of you in uniform), but you also brought a fire truck to honor Dad’s 38 years of service. If I missed thanking any of you, I thank you now.
Lastly, thank you for YOUR service – you are all HEROES. You have selflessly defended our country, and kept our community and families safe. That you came to honor my Dad is something I will remember the rest of my life.
