Chelsea High School’s talented show choir group, Co.C, will perform their annual spring show, Friday and Saturday, May 16-17, at 7:30 p.m. at the CHS auditorium. This year’s theme is One Voice: Across The Pond and features five decades of music hits from Great Britain.

Tickets are now on sale at Chelsea Pharmacy or at the door, and are $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens,

Now in its 24th year, the Co.C troupe has been rehearsing since January for this show. They will be dressed in British-themed costumes while performing songs from the past 50 years from such groups as the Beatles, the Animals, Coldplay, ELO, Elton John, Ellie Goulding and Queen among others.

“We will be covering over a half century of British pop hits, show tunes and everything in between,” says Co.C and CHS Director of Choirs Steve Hinz, adding, “In addition to the wonderful musical arrangements, the costumes and set designs will have a design flair as seen in London.”

Members of Jr. C, representing Beach Middle School and South Meadows Elementary School, will also be performing on stage with their high school mentors. Lisa Hinz-Johnson is once again coordinating all of the music arrangements. The set design was created by Monika Essen.  Choreography this year was coordinated by former Co.C alum Kaci Friss, and her fellow musical theater majors from the University of Michigan.

“These kids have been working so hard for this show,” says Hinz. “We are so proud to be able to perform again for the 24th year the music reminiscent of the British invasion mixed in with the hits of today.”

He says, “The combination of new takes on classic hits to covers on current artists promises to bring the audience a show that they’ll enjoy, as it highlights the individual talents of many of its members.”

Co.C is an award-winning group of choral students from Chelsea High School who combine high-energy music and dance routines to entertain audiences in Michigan and the Midwest.
