Nov. 2: A conversation on climate change

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Erica Ackerman for the information in this story.)

“A Conversation on Climate Change” will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Chelsea District Library.

The event will begin with a 30-minute presentation by University of Michigan Professor Gretchen Keppel-Aleks on the science of climate change, its impacts, and how it can be addressed.

Following the presentation, attendees will  break up into discussion groups led by other University of Michigan professors and climate researchers, as well as a research scientist from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The small group discussions should last about 45 minutes.

“We hope to reach out to people who have doubts about climate change or who have simply been confused by the ‘he said, she said’ manner that the debate is often covered in the media,” according to the press release.

The event is sponsored by two local non-profits, Clean Water Action and Organizing for Action Washtenaw.
