Recent obituary: Rene Albert Papo

Rene Albert Papo passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019 in Houston, Texas at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, at age 60 after a long battle with leukemia.

From a young age, Rene’s life was filled with adventure—from sailing the Virgin Islands, scuba diving in the Galapagos to skiing the Rocky Mountains, and exploring Europe. As an avid naturalist and adventurer, he guided his family and friends on numerous trips, which always took them to the sea or mountains.

Rene completed High School at Chelsea High School and college education at Kalamazoo College. Following his undergraduate degree, he completed a Masters Degree in Physical Chemistry at the University of Michigan.

In celebration of Rene’s life, his family will be hosting an open house at Knights Restaurant Downtown at 600 E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor on Sept. 5, 2019 from 3-7 p.m. (short remarks will be held at 5 p.m.).  Those who knew Rene are welcome to drop in to share positive memories of Rene’s life and pay their respects to his family.
