Sylvan Township Citizen of the Year nominations underway

Sylvan Township Hall

By Lisa Carolin

Sylvan Township Board members will be signing a charter to create an Advisory Committee on Water Debt. That was the recommendation of Trustee Kurt Koseck, the board trustee chairing the committee.

The committee has already met a few times, and Koseck says the plan is to quantify some scenarios and make a list of pros and cons.

The board unanimously approved hiring TCS (The Computer Source) in Grass Lake to design its website. Treasurer Rod Branham said that nine companies were under consideration and he recommended TCS, which offered one of the lowest prices.

Thanks to an increase in the valuation of the Sylvan Township Hall building, the board approved paying an increase of $225 for the annual insurance premium.

If you know of a Sylvan Township resident who has done something extraordinary, you are encouraged to nominate them for 2017 Citizen of the Year. There is a form to fill out on the township website. Nominations are being accepted from now until Nov. 20.
