(Chelsea Update would like to thank Joe Yekulis for the information in this story and Kelly Flaherty for the photos in the slideshow at the end of the story.)

The Italian American Club of Livonia has a strong family tie to St. Louis Center, as the Servants of Charity priests who run this unique residential program for the developmentally disabled are originally from Italy and are members of the club.

The 21st annual “Guardian Angel” fundraising dinner on Jan. 24 will be returning to its original roots with a plated meal from the Banquet Center, and dancing to the sounds of the duo “One Man Out.” The dinner will also include a silent auction, gift raffle, and a treasure chest drawing.

Proceeds from this event are dedicated to the transportation program at St. Louis Center, a 501 (C-3) non-profit organization. The event begins with a noon Mass, and dinner at 1 p.m.

Tickets are $60 each, and can be obtained from IACL Club member Bea King at 734-420-4481, or through Joe Yekulis at St. Louis Center at 734-475-8430.

For more information, please visit the “Events” page on the St. Louis Center website at http://stlouiscenter.org/events_italian-american-dinner.html.

The Italian American Banquet Center is located at 39200 Five Mile Road at the intersection of I-275.
