Transition Town Chelsea will hold a potluck on Monday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Chelsea Senior Center, 512 E. Washington St.
Guests this month are members of a group planning an Eco Village in the area – a co-located intentional community for ecological living.
“Most of us pursue a transition approach integrated with the community in which we live,” according to the information about this group. “Some intentional communities choose a different path, that of separating themselves from the larger society.”
This Eco Village group is looking at something in between: building their own community on their own land that produces all of its own food, and at the same time offering a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) to the surrounding area and working to foster localization efforts within the larger town, according to the information.
They envision themselves as a nucleus rather than an island, the information states.
The potluck portion starts at 6:30 and the Eco Village presentation begins at about 7:15 p.m. Those coming to the potluck are asked to bring a dish to pass and your own place settings. Entrees and desserts are in high demand based on previous potlucks.
