The Washtenaw Whippets field hockey team finished the regular season with two wins last week.
On Oct. 14, the Whippets defeated Academy of Sacred Heart, on senior night, at home 3-0. Jessie Olmsted led off the scoring, assisted by Sarah Mesko and Meghan Cole. Kristen Newman scored her first goal of the year on a corner, assisted by Maggie Cole. Meghan Cole assisted her sister, Maggie, on the final goal of the game.
The Whippets had 28 shots on goal. Hannah Moore had 6 saves in goal and Kelly Bertini had one goal line stop.
On Thursday, the Whippets traveled to Mercy High School where they controlled the ball most of the game. They had many scoring opportunities, but the only goal they needed was an unassisted one by Maggie Cole in the first half.
Congratulations to the four seniors–Hannah Moore, Kristen Newman, Talia Peters, and Emma Walworth.
The Whippets start playoff action at home on Tuesday, Oct. 28 on the turf at Jerry Niehaus field at 7 p.m. Please go to the game and root for your Chelsea-based Whippets Field Hockey team.
