Youth Dance Theatre to Hold Benefit Performance for Austin Nichols

Mark your calendars for a dance benefit for Austin Nichols, 23, planned by the Youth Dance Theatre of Michigan and guest performers on Friday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Washington Street Education Center auditorium.

The Chelsea-based dance company is asking attendees to make a donation to help Nichols, a Grass Lake native, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in March.

He’s a 2007 graduate of Grass Lake High School and was a senior at The College for Creative Studies in Detroit when he was diagnosed with “Diffuse Pontine Glioma,” according to a Facebook page created for him.

Check out the Team Austin<3 Facebook page.

If you’d like to make a donation, checks can be made out to “Team Austin Fund For Austin Nichols” made payable to Austin Nichols, and mailed to P.O. Box 18, Concord, MI. 49237.

Any funds received will go directly toward the cost of his medications, co-pays, hospital bills, and gas money to travel to the hospital daily, according to the Facebook page.
