Chocolate. Chocolate. Chocolate. Are you ready to get your chocolate fix on?

Chelsea’s 5th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza will take place downtown on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10-5 p.m.

The family-friendly event offers chocolate and Valentine-themed treats and activities in more than 30 local shops, restaurants, galleries and cafes.

Plus, at this year’s event shoppers can learn about the history and future of chocolate, and see what cacao beans look like.

Among the highlights are:

*Special discounts offered at the stores and restaurants.

*River Gallery will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a reception from 5- 8 p.m.

*The Chelsea District Library will offer “food themed” activities, and families are invited “Everybody Cooks.”  In partnership with the U-M Museum of Natural History, the library will explore why the same ingredients or types of food pop up all over the place, how geology relates to food, what cultural transmission is and participants will also get to make their very own bread starter.

*Garden Mill, will offer children a free “make and take” activity.

“The Chocolate Extravaganza in downtown Chelsea is a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a loved one, shake off the winter blahs, enjoy scrumptious treats, and support local businesses,” according to event information.
