At the market on Saturday, June 8

Johnny Secreto will be at the market.
Johnny Secreto will be at the market.

The Saturday Chelsea Farmers’ Market is open from 8 a.m.- noon in the library parking lot on Park Street.

You will not want to miss the spring salsas and sauces event demonstration. (I got a preview Wednesday at the Bushel Basket Farmers’ Market and it’s yummy.) There will be free strawberry salsa samples, and tips for preserving the early summer harvest.

If you want to learn more about food preservation, then join Terry Peyton at the St. Paul United Church of Christ every second Saturday from 9-1 through October to learn the ins and outs of canning.

Plus, there will be music by Bob Skon beginning at 10 a.m. and there will be a Chelsea MOPS activity tent set up.

Here are the new vendor offerings this week:

* Tasty Bakery will have Lemon Olive Oil Poppy muffins (dairy free) and vegan mini strawberry Pies. (My recommendation: Try the peanut butter cookies.)

File photo. Kapnik Orchards will have strawberries for sale.
