On Saturday, Nov. 23, more than 130 6th graders, 8th grade WEB Leaders, Beach staff and their families converged on the Arctic Coliseum for a fun-filled night of ice skating. Students enjoyed the music, skating, and friendship, and many broke new ground, ice skating for the very first time.

Students in Brian Boos’ WEB Leadership elective course helped plan the event. “Everyone had fun skating to music, laser lights, and a disco ball. WEB leaders and 6th graders alike skated for the full two hours. A good time was had by all, and special thanks goes to the Arctic Coliseum,” said Boos.

Principal Nick Angel said, “It was great to see such a large turnout of students and staff. The 6th grade students had a ton of fun and we appreciate the Artic Coliseum for allowing us to host a great social event for our kids.”

WEB co-coordinator Sarah Bunten, who organized the 6th grade participants, said, “Sixth graders, WEB leaders, and teachers had a blast. It was a terrific experience for our WEB leaders to see the success of their hard work and planning.”

WEB, or Where Everyone Belongs, is a program that pairs 8th grade student leaders with all 6th graders. The program begins before school with a 6th grade orientation and continues throughout the year with social events. WEB Leadership students also instruct 6th graders in strategies for success during the school day.
