Chelsea gold: Shop locally Nov. 29-Dec 1, support Chelsea District Schools

Vogel’s and Foster’s and other Chelsea businesses, plan to participate in “Chelsea Gold” Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 1.

“For the second year, Vogel’s and Foster’s will be doing an event to give back to the Chelsea community for the whole Thanksgiving weekend,” according to a press release from Mike Jackson, owner.

Rather than calling it Black Friday, Jackson chose the name Chelsea Gold because it provides money (gold) to assist the schools and helps local businesses at the same time, he said.

Jackson has encouraged other businesses to take part and designate their participation by placing blue and gold balloons outside their store doors.

Among the participants are Global Marketplace and Serendipity Books have also pledged their support to the Chelsea Gold event.

Chelsea High School Principal Michael Kapolka encouraged people to shop at these local businesses as the donations will go to the school district’s general fund.

“Please look for blue and gold balloons in front of the local stores that are participating,” he said, adding, “Your support is greatly appreciated.”
