The Chelsea Golf Team hosted 14 teams at Reddeman farms on May 20 for the Chelsea Invitational, and Chelsea’s Gold team finished seventh with a score of 349.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Blue team finished 13th with a score of 378.

Scoring for the Gold Team was J.J. Duncan with an 85, Zach McKinley and Michael Purdy both had 87 and Sean Lyons and Teddy Darr each had a 90.

Scoring for the Blue Team was Blake Salgat with an 89, Jonny Mangner with a 90, Will Stubbs with a 99 and Devin Wild with 100.

“I was very pleased, it was our best score of the year by 19 shots, and our second team was not that far behind, showing the depth we are developing,” said Head Golf Coach Joe Ewald.

The SEC League Meet was played on Wednesday May 22 at Eagle Crest Golf Course at Eastern Michigan University. Dexter won the meet and Chelsea finished third, which places the Bulldogs third in the final White Division Standings, the coach said.

“I was a little disappointed with the results, we were tied for second going in and I felt we should have been able to lock up that second spot,” Ewald said.

Scoring for Chelsea was Purdy with an 89,  Duncan with a 90, Darr shot a 91 and Lyons finished with a 95.

The Bulldogs will compete in Districts on Wednesday at Binder Park in Battle Creek.
