CHS swim and dive tallies first SEC win, drops Tecumseh

The Chelsea High School swim and dive team hosted Tecumseh on Jan. 16 and earned its first SEC White division win of the season, 122-54.

The Tecumseh team was over-matched by the Bulldogs, winning 9 of the 12 events, and sweeping three of them said coach Andrew Thomson.

The medley relay team of Joel Burke, Bram Hartsuff, Stephen Levine, and Rollen Zachrich finished second (2:10.03) and the team of Zach Dosey, Owen Critchfield, Brennan Bagbey and Tuan Le earned third (2:36.36).

Parker Olk won the 200 freestyle (1:57.97), while Zander Hartsuff was right behind in second (2:00.80) and Dominik Green was fifth (2:29.16).

In the 200 IM Deaglan Krause led the Bulldogs (2:24.88), with Bram Hartsuff in third (2:47.99), and Bagbey in fourth (2:54.76).

Dosey was top dog in the 50 freestyle, touching second (28.54), while Le was fifth (43.75) and Gabe Muckle was sixth (49.99).

The Bulldogs swept the diving event, with Olk winning the event (168.55 points), Landen Collins second (111.30) and AJ Mitchell third (111.10).

In the 100 butterfly Niko Fannin took second (1:04.77), with Krause third (1:06.21), and Levine fourth (1:07.88).

Zander Hartsuff led the charge in the 100 freestyle, touching in 52.78. Green finished third (1:09.77).

Jaron Iannelli swam a competitive 500 freestyle, finishing first overall (6:06.08), while Levine touched third (6:26.60) and Critchfield was fourth (6:48.21).

Chelsea again won the 200 freestyle relay, with the team of Krause, Olk, Collins and Zander Hartsuff finishing in 1:36.27, while Fannin, Green, Bram Hartsuff and Iannelli earned third (1:48.91).

The 100 backstroke saw the Bulldogs sweep the top three spots, with Burke earning the top spot (1:10:88), Dosey close behind in second (1:13.52) and Zachrich third (1:16.00).

Fannin touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.15), with Bram Hartsuff third (1:27.28) and Critchfield fourth (1:37.20).

In the final event of the meet, the 400 freestyle relay, Zachrich, Olk, Zander Hartsuff, and Levine finished first (4:04.06) while the team of Bagbey, Burke, Iannelli, and Green touched second (4:22.81).

The Bulldogs will have a full week next week, traveling to Milan and Ann Arbor Skyline, for weeknight duals, before traveling to Tecumseh on Saturday for the annual Kiwanis Invite.
