Connell Alford breaks Beach Middle School X-C record in Early Bird meet

A small group of middle school cross country runners started the season with 3200m run at Early Bird Meet at Huron Meadows Metropark.

Connell Alford started the season by breaking the school record with a time of 11:06.6, while placing first in the meet out of 55 runners. The previous school record was 11:23.9 held by Carson Rabbitt in 2014.

Three other boys who ran at the meet did well in their season opener. They were Jackie Dell who placed 6th with a time of 12:48, Luke Tropea placed 12th with a time of 13:46, and Connor Zatkovich placed 38th with a time of 17:15.

For the girls group, Trilian Krug ran a personal record of 13:16 and placed 3rd overall out of 44 runners. Also running for Chelsea, Seren Angus who placed 14th with a time of 14:51, Sam Dark who placed 20th with a time of 16:03, and Lauren Thompson placed 29th with a time of 17:26.

The first regular season meet is Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Ella Shape Park in Jackson against other SEC teams.
