Patti Christian and June Mann, the master minds behind a highly unusual and very fun American Cancer Society fundraising calendar, took to the road in search of their BRAve men models this year.

In its third year, the BRAve Men of Dexter calendar is now the BRAve Men of Dexter and Beyond and features two Dexter Township business partners and their dog mascot.

The 2013 calendar kicks off the New Year with Jon Dyer, founder and master distiller of Ugly Dog Distillery, Dewey Winkle, director of operations for the company, and Ruger, a German wire-haired retriever, the Ugly Dog mascot.

Winkle said his aunt, Topper Maloney, suggested he do the calendar, since her husband was in last year’s calendar.

“But,” Winkle said, “He wasn’t wearing a bra.”

The Dexter Township business partners and dog were all in bras for the photo shoot done by Tayna Dunn of Blue Peach Photography, and the calendar is for sale at Ugly Dog at 14495 N. Territorial Road — prominently displayed on the main display case.

The three posed in Girl’s Night Out themed bras and Ruger’s was specially made by Cheryl Vogel, Christian says.

“One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sales of the calendar will be donated to cancer research and awareness programs on behalf of the ‘Friends and Family’ Relay for Life Team,” Mann said.

The two friends belong to the “Friends and Family” Dexter Relay for Life Team that participates in the village’s annual American Cancer Society fundraiser each spring.

Check out the calender’s Facebook page here. In addition, the calendars are on sale in a number of locations in Dexter and Ann Arbor, including Busch’s and Country Market for $20 each. So, you’ll have to buy one to see which additional BRAve men posed for photos.

If you have suggestions for future bras or models or would like to donate a decorated bra or sponsor next year’s calendar, email [email protected].

The calendar display inside Ugly Dog Distillery at 14495 North Territorial.
