The Beach Middle School “cafetorium” (the cafeteria that became an auditorium) was standing room only on Friday, Feb. 28, as BMS Drama Club performed “Princess Who?” by Brian D. Taylor.

Yes, drama club is back at Beach after a 10-year hiatus. And, more than 40 students are involved in the cast and crew. They did everything both in front of and behind the curtain, including lights, sound, creating and moving sets, costuming, and gathering props.

Last fall, BMSDC ran four workshops where students learned about all aspects of theater, played improv games, and participated in an audition workshop.

Auditions for this play were held in January, and the final show was performed twice last Friday – once during the day for all 6th graders and an evening performance for the community.

“I was incredibly impressed with the performance of our students and the community support of our drama program,” said Principal Nick Angel. “Mrs. Bunten and Mrs. DeLand picked a great script, which allowed us to highlight the talents of a large number of students.”

Drama Club is led by teachers and advisors Sarah Bunten and Jessica DeLand.
