Feb. 23: Festival of Tables with preview on Feb. 22

The 8th annual Festival of Tables will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 and will add color and cheer to our Michigan winter.

This popular event is always a crowd pleaser.

Admission fee is $25 and includes a delicious lunch catered by Wesley’s Catering.  Doors open at 11 a.m. and attendees will have a chance to view 20 creatively decorated tables and vote for their favorite.

As a fundraiser, additional voting tickets may be purchased to “stuff the ballot box.”  

The event this year returns to St. Mary Church located at 14200 E. Old US-12.  Advance reservations for the Saturday event are available starting Jan. 14 at the Chelsea Senior Center – be sure to purchase your admission early because this annual event sells out.

Once again, a Friday evening preview will be available from 5-7 p.m. for those unable to attend on Saturday or those who want more time to study all the creative details of each table.

The Friday evening preview is open to all for only $1 per person at the door, come enjoy the Friday preview event with the whole family.  

This year, all proceeds from the event will support senior transportation programs coordinated by the Chelsea Senior Center (CSC). Expanding rural transportation options can have a significant impact on quality of life and well-being for older adults, especially those who are homebound.

According to Gary Munce, senior center board president and event M.C. “This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together and lend a helping hand to our friends and neighbors.”

There is a diverse lineup of local groups, businesses, and residents decorating tables with themes such as “Tour de France”, “50s Diner”, “Dinosaurs”, and “Love’s Blooming” to name a few. 

Among those represented this year will be returning participants Chelsea District Library, Garden Mill, Chelsea Area Festivals & Events, Material Girls, Adult Learners Institute, Gail Geer Calligraphy, USArtquest, Chelsea Artists Guild, Jewelry Set in Stone, Mothers of Preschoolers, Chelsea Area Garden Club, C.A.D.D.Y. Quilters, and the CSC Crafters.

Newcomers this year include Silver Maples Retirement Neighborhood, Chelsea State Bank, Vintage Barn Boutique, and Fran Coy Salon and Spa.
