Interested Chelsea residents encouraged to apply for open seat on the City Council

The seven-member Chelsea City Council has an open seat following the June resignation of former Council Member Rick Catherman.

He and his family have moved out of town.

Those interested in the current opening should attend, via Zoom, the regular Chelsea City Council meeting on July 20 at 7 p.m. to learn more about the process and how to apply.  Application materials will be available at www.city-chelsea.org.

Please forward completed applications along with an updated resume to the City Clerk via email ([email protected]), drop off at the City Offices during regular business hours, or send to the attention of the City Clerk by U.S. Mail.

Applicants should review the City Board, Committee and Commission Handbook for additional information.

On Aug. 12, the application period closes and on Aug. 17, the Chelsea City Council will schedule interviews for an Aug. 24 special meeting.

On Sept. 8, the City Council will appoint a seventh member and that person will be sworn-in at this meeting.

Sept. 8 will be the first meeting for the new Council Member and this person’s term ends in November, 2021.
