Meet Amy Creteau: Lane Animal Hospital’s new pet stylist (with slideshow)

Amy Creteau, the new animal stylist at Lane Animal Hospital, works on a happy pup.

Amy Creteau joined the Lane Animal Hospital on Aug. 1 and is working in a bright, newly renovated grooming area with two rooms and top of the line equipment.

She has more than 30 years of experience styling both dogs and (nice) kitties and will groom pets to a breed standard or to a client’s wishes.

“I love scissoring and precision work,” she says and she hand dries the animals following a bath to give the best finish possible.

Her grooming area has state of the art tubs, new crates and adjustable grooming tables to accommodate pets of all sizes and coat types.

“I groom as requested,” Creteau says, adding clients do not need to be patients at Lane Animal Hospital.

However, pets must be current on all vaccinations (including DA2PP, Bordetella, Lepto and Rabies), must have had a negative heartworm test and fecal exam in the last 12 months and must be on Sentinel Spectrum (heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention) and an oral or topical flea and tick preventive.

Now that she’s settled into her new grooming room, Creteau is now accepting new clients and will schedule up to six full grooms a day. She works by appointment only and is there Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. She’ll also be there on an occasional Saturday.

The animals are groomed downstairs away from the treatment rooms but should she find something concerning with a pet, she’ll let both the owners and the veterinarians know about what she’s found.

Creteau’s other passions include horses and 4-H. She and her husband live on a hobby farm in Dexter with assorted horses, dogs, cats and chickens – just 7 miles from Lane Animal Hospital.

She says she really enjoys the grooming business; the before and after, building long lasting relationships with her clients and their pets.

Because she’s shown dogs in both obedience and conformation over the years, Creteau is very familiar with grooming to a breed standard.

Prices are dependent on breed and size of the animal. She can be reached by calling 734-475-8696 or by clicking here.

Lane Animal Hospital is at 701 N. Main St.
