Miss Sunrise Side Outstanding Teen 2019 to perform in Ballet Chelsea’s The Nutcracker

Peyton Lowder, Miss Sunrise Side Outstanding Teen 2019, will perform in Ballet Chelsea’s “The Nutcracker.”

In September, one of Ballet Chelsea’s students, Peyton Lowder of Jackson was crowned Miss Sunrise Side Outstanding Teen 2019 and claimed the talent award.

Don’t miss Lowden as she performs with Ballet Chelsea in its 22nd annual production of The Nutcracker, Dec. 7-8 and 14-15, in the role of Lead Hot Chocolate as she exhibits her tremendous skill and versatility as an artist.

On Dec.7-8, performances take place at 2 p.m. at Chelsea High School Performing Arts Complex, 740 N. Freer Road and Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at the George E. Potter Center, 2111 Emmons Road in Jackson.

Tickets range in price from $10-$30 and are available online at www.balletchelsea.org or www.jacksonsymphony.org.

The Nutcracker is a full-length, narrated ballet, choreographed by Ballet Chelsea’s Artistic Director Wendi DuBois featuring the talents of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and Musical Director, Matthew Aubin.

Audiences young and old from all over southern Michigan return year after year for this family-friendly holiday favorite. Don’t miss your chance to join Lowder and Ballet Chelsea and on a magical journey from Christmas Eve festivities at the Stahlbaum’s house, complete with godfather Drosselmeier and his charming mechanical dolls, to a fierce midnight battle, and on to the enchanted Kingdom of Sweets.

This narrated production combines the beauty of ballet, the excitement of live music and the joy of a classic holiday story with nearly 70 dancers from across Southern Michigan captivating audiences with their energy and artistry.

Lowder will use her title to promote social impact initiatives focusing on substance abuse education among Michigan teens and she will continue her journey at the 2020 Miss Michigan Teen pageant in June.

Lowder was previously crowned Miss Jackson Crossroads Outstanding Teen 2018 and took on the role of community ambassador and teen mentor. She applied the educational scholarship she earned as Jackson Crossroads Outstanding Teen toward her career in dance.
