The Chelsea Bulldog track and field team traveled to Tecumseh Tuesday night, and came home with a 86-50 victory.

“Overall, a much better performance,” said coach Eric Swager, who added, “The focus was on attitude and good effort in all events.   For the most part, guys competed with grit and fire.  Most athletes ran in 3-4 events, so it was quite a workout – just what we needed.”

Individually, Jacob Stubbs, Mike Smith, and Noah Van Reesema all had multiple victories, with Van Reesema’s high jump of 6’1”landing him on the top 10 all-time performances in Chelsea history.

The Bulldogs are now 4-0 in dual meets, with a huge showdown meet against undefeated Lincoln on Tuesday, May 6 at home.

“I encourage all fans to come down to the track at 4:30 p.m. and see the top two teams in the SEC white go at it,” Swager said.

The SEC finals are next Friday, May 9, and regionals the following Friday, May 16.

“We need to get sharp in a hurry, but I like our current position,” the coach said.
