There’s Still Time to get Mixed Nuts from Chelsea Kiwanis

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Last Monday, Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from 2020-2021 Kiwanis International President Art Riley who outlined the direction in which he will lead the organization.

Kiwanis is a family of servant leaders. Kiwanis clubs focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time. Each year, the Kiwanis family dedicates more than 18.5 million hours to service and raises more than US$100 million for local and global causes.

In that light, personal and professional leadership development is a perfect complement to strengthen the Kiwanis mission of service. Training courses called Kiwanis Amplify will be conducted this year. Courses lead by professional speakers, educators, businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and coaches from around the world who specialize in the topics they will be sharing. This will help to define Kiwanis as a leadership development organization.

Riley also intends to improve diversity and inclusion. A great opportunity exists to help children in underserved communities. Kiwanis strives to see children well educated, well fed, and secure.

Monday, club members will hear from Gordon Schleicher, a recent transfer to the Chelsea club from a Kiwanis club in Lansing. Gordon is a past Lt. Governor and Aktion Club Administrator for the Michigan District of Kiwanis, past club president, and recipient of the George F. Hixson fellowship, and is a Frank O. Staiger Distinguished Kiwanian.

To continue the focus on healthy living this January, the topic of his talk is “Laugh your way to well-being.” He will cover seven ways laughter can improve your well-being, conduct a survey to determine the group member’s best laugh, and as we get out of the serious side of the Coronavirus, and laugh at its humorous side.

The Mixed Nut Sale continues. Tree nuts are a great snack for binge watching Netflix and the upcoming Super Bowl. A can of Gourmet Nuts is $25. The club is sold out of the Delicious Delights chocolates. Please see any Kiwanian or order on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/kiwanisclubofchelsea
